What is hummus?

Almost everyone knows hummus. It is the quintessential Middle Eastern dip, made by mixing chickpeas with tahini, garlic and citrus. It’s creamy, satisfying, and packed with plant-based protein.

This is how you make this Easy Homestyle Hummus

  • 2 (15 oz) cans Garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
  • 3 tablespoons tahini (sesame seed paste)
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • ½ cup water – add if necessary
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Place the drained garbanzo beans, tahini, garlic, lemon juice and oil in the bowl of a food processor or blender. Chop or blend until smooth and add enough water to achieve a creamy dip.
  2. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Transfer to a serving bowl.
  4. It can be served immediately, but it will be tastier if left in the refrigerator overnight.
  5. Remove from the refrigerator 1 hour before serving.
