We live in a world where we often racing from one racing jong leather with task lists that never seem to end, 24-hour news cycles and a society that rewards pressure on delaying.
Many of us already know that time in nature is good for our mental health. Put our phones aside to have a picnic in the park, on the way to a walk, or brace ourselves for a cold lake swimming helps us fall into the moment and feel connected. Who has not detached their shoulders and exhales their entire body when inhaling pine needles on a forest walk, or catching a whisper of lavender in the wind?
And although I will always encourage the outdoors, the truth is that it is not always possible. Time in nature has become something that we treat like a luxury instead of the need it really is.
That is where aromatherapy enters as a nice way to bridge the gap between our busy modern life and our deep-rooted need to make contact with the natural world. They are more than beautiful scents or pampering moments (although I am certainly for this); The point is to welcome nature back in our daily lives, one on a plant -driven drop at the same time.
Plant, tree and flower magic
Each essential oil starts with a plant, tree or fruit that is grown, collected and carefully distilled. When we work with essential oils, we become one with nature. In the heart of that oil breathing, its essence, can be transformational. It not only connects us with our own memories, but also with the old stories and magic of the plant itself.
Inhalation in the smell of bitter orange essential oil can take us to a beautiful sun -heated orchard, with spotted light dancing between the leaves of the citrus × aurantium tree, his sunshine oranges that invite us to pick and taste its golden joy.
The senses awaken again
One of the things that spend time in nature gives us the ability to delay and aromatherapy offers us the opportunity to do that too. It enables us to breathe deeply, to feel, return to our body. In a world of fast scrolling and mental overload that is not small.
The use of essential oils to connect to nature and the memories it can evoke can lift, stabilize and calm our emotions.
- Inhalation of essential oils for a busy day can help us to ground.
- Uplifting citrus blends help to brighten up a gray and drizzly morning.
- Choosing essential oils of flowers can take us to a summer meadow when we have to pause and help bring a feeling of calmness.
When we wake up our senses, we naturally become more present – and presence is the first step back to belong to the natural world.
Essential oils to connect to nature
Here is a list of my favorite oils to support you mentally and to help you reconnect with nature:
- Bergamot is like a sunbeam due to citrus trees. The light aroma facilitates fear, lifts low moods and gently encourages emotional release.
- Inhalation in Cedarwood with its earthly scent is like walking through the old forests. It is bad and calming for scattered spirits.
- To support hormone harmony, reach to Clary Sage’s herbal aroma, the somewhat musk -like scent is like wild herbs on a hill.
- Get deep breath from the holy oil from incense to calm and pause. Perfect for sky-staring or calm reflection.
- Geranium is both balanced and sweet, such as summer leaves warmed by the sun. It helps to regulate emotions and promotes a sense of inner harmony.
- Rose Essential Oil can comfort sadness, feed emotional wounds and bring softness to the heart. Rose is a must for every garden or essential oil enthusiast.
- Rosemary is a herb garden pleasure and pollinator, with its herbaceous and strong aroma. In aromatherapy, Rosemary helps to bring focus, to clean up mental mess and increase memory.
- Sandelhout is another holy oil that encourages inner silence and spiritual connection.
- Sweet orange with its uplifting scent is like peeling fruit in the sun. It brings joy, stimulates energy and relieves emotional gravity.
- Inhalation in Vetiver is grounded, such as bare feet on damp soil. It is deeply calming, perfect for overwhelming or when life feels unstable.
- Ylang Ylang is exotic, such as tropical blossoms at dusk. It calms the tension, lifts self -respect and encourages sensuality and joy.
Bring together nature and aromatherapy
Combining aromatherapy with nature rituals can really feel magical – small, everyday moments that quietly make a big difference. Consider them small rituals where smell and nature meet. Simple, natural breaks that bring you back to yourself.
- Spread a seasonal blend while you are around the house and bring the wild indoors.
- Start a scent diary: note down downwards where you ‘feel attracted to and the memories or landscapes they stir.
- Create a natural altar with fresh flowers, lined finds and a mix that speaks until the season.
- Treat yourself to a botanical bath with your favorite essential oil mix and seasonal flowers or herbs from your garden.
- Make a scent place – bring a calming oil such as Cedarwood or Lavender to a place near a window. Sit down, breathe in the calming aroma and let the aroma help you settle in silence.
These small rituals do not calm down alone – they root us. They remind us that we are not separated from nature. We are nature.

Calming Badmix – Sink in silence
Because when your body feels tired and your mind a little time.
Mix 3 drops of incense, 2 drops of lavender and 1 drop ylang ylang with 10 ml borage carrier oil and mix in 50 g EPSOM and Himalayan salts, sprinkle in rose petals, lavender bins or other herb garden treasures. Add to a warm bath and let the blend calm.
Slowdown pulse point mixture – the earth under your feet
Because when life moves too quickly and you have to feel your feet back on the floor.
Mix 2 drops of incense, 2 drops of cedar wood and 1 drop clary sage essential oil with 10 ml of carrier oil such as sweet almond or walnut, or a combination of both. Pour in a rollette bottle of 10 ml and roll on the pulse points on the wrists and temples when you want to connect to the silence of the forest.
Uplifting diffuser mixture – sunlight through leaves
To lift the fog on gray days and to remind you that the sun is always there, even behind the clouds.
Diffuse 2 drops of geranium, 1 drop rosemary and 3 drops of sweet orange, in water, in an electric aromatherapy diffuser or candle burner in the chosen space for a maximum of 20 minutes, to elevate and concentrate your mind.
Connecting with nature does not always mean that the walking of mountains or hugging trees (although I strongly recommend both!). Sometimes it starts with a single drop of oil and the willingness to slow and listen.
Breathe in. Choose a mix. And let nature be gently led.
