Ladies and gentlemen, Listen to: it’s time for a do -it yourself pedi. Toe toenails too long can rub against the inside of shoes, causing repeated microtraumas in each step and lead to the development of blisters, discoloration, breath and even loss of the nail. Keeping the toes happy is essential! The toes play a crucial role in the function of the foot and your ability to balance well and walk well. Tackling toe problems quickly can prevent permanent damage. If you have a toe problem, immediate treatment can also prevent complex treatment from being needed to restore health.

How can I treat pain at home?

Some problems can only require home treatment. However, if these problems worsen, you must visit a podiatrist. These treatments can tackle immediate toe pain:

  • Ice: icing A freshly wounded toe can reduce swelling and pain. Use a cold compress on your toe for fifteen minutes several times during the first 48 hours that you experience toe pain. Ice your toe no more than twenty minutes at a time.
  • Operating medication: Inflammation is a common symptom of many toe problems. NSAIDs such as ibuprofen can relieve pain and inflammation at the same time.
  • Soaking hot salt water: soaking your toes in warm salt water can help to unpack pain from an ingrown toenail. Epsom -salts also help to reduce the chance of infection. If you already have an infected toe, the salts can relieve the pressure and swelling of your toe problem.
  • Do not wear high heels, slippers or poorly fitting shoes if you have toe pain because this can deteriorate your symptoms. Contact your healthcare provider if you do not relieve your toe pain or do not fully tackle your toe problem at home. They can recommend further treatment that is tailored to your specific needs.

Remember these general maintenance tips to make toenails look – but not feeling – Scharsen.

  1. Clip -toe nails, so only a piece of white remains at the ends and the nail does not extend further than the end of the toe. If you perform high-impact activities, zumba, etc.-clip the nailer so that it does not jam at the end of your shoe.
  2. If clear corals and red are your go-to-summer colors, make sure you prepare for a base layer so that you do not discolour the nail.
  3. Trim nails post-shower, when they are softer.
  4. File sharp edges after cutting, only in one direction – not back and forth.
  5. Invest in nails – these look somewhat like small tongs and cuts, although more expensive than clippers, more accurately.
  6. If you go to the salon, make sure that the environment is clean – if you don’t feel comfortable to walk around bare feet, you have to go somewhere else.
  7. Ask what the salon uses to sterilize its equipment – the best methods are autoclave (high -pressure steam) or sterilizing solution.
  8. Apart from the washingub if you have open swearing on your feet.
  9. Let the salon know if you have diabetes or take a blood thinner.
