The lower abdomen is the part of the abdomen that lies below the navel (also called the navel or navel). It includes the abdominal area between the navel and the pelvis. Pain in this area is called lower abdominal pain. The pain can arise due to a problem in any of several organs in the lower abdomen, such as the colon (large intestine), small intestine, appendix, urinary bladder, ureter, ovaries, and uterus. In very rare cases, pain may be felt in another area of the body in the lower abdomen, so-called referred pain, such as with kidney pain, testicular pain, etc.

The intensity of the pain can be mild to severe depending on a case by case basis. The pain can be acute (sudden onset), chronic (develops gradually and lasts for a long time) or intermittent (occurs intermittently). The pain can be located in the entire lower abdomen or specifically on the right or left side. The reasons behind lower abdominal pain can range from mild to quite severe pain, requiring urgent medical attention. It could simply be the result of indigestion, gas, constipation, diarrhea or it could indicate other stomach health problems.

It can be the result of inflammation in the small or large intestine. The reasons behind the inflammation can be variable. First, the inflammation can arise from an infection. Subsequently, this can arise in cases of IBD or celiac disease. IBD refers to inflammatory bowel disease of an autoimmune condition that includes two conditions, namely Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. In Crohn’s disease, inflammation can occur in any part of the gastrointestinal tract. Ulcerative colitis causes inflammation and ulcers in the colon and/or rectum.

Another cause of inflammation is celiac disease. It is an autoimmune disease in which eating wheat, rye and barley triggers an immune response that damages the lining of the small intestine. Other reasons include intestinal obstruction and colon cancer.

The next reason for pain in the lower abdomen can be an infection in the urinary tract (UTI). In women, lower abdominal pain may also occur due to dysmenorrhea (pain during menstruation) and other uterine complaints, such as fibroids (benign, i.e. non-cancerous tumors that grow in the uterine wall), pelvic inflammatory disease (infection in the upper genital tract of women). ) and endometriosis (growth of tissue that normally lines the uterus in an area other than the uterus, such as in the ovaries, fallopian tubes, urinary bladder, rectum). The pain in the lower abdomen, specifically on one side, can have several reasons. Pain in the left side of the lower abdomen can be the result of diverticulitis (inflammation in the pouches that can form in the lining of the colon) and kidney stones on the left side. Pain in the right side of the lower abdomen may occur due to appendicitis (inflammation of the appendix), kidney stone on the right side. In women, unilateral pain in the lower abdomen, apart from the above, can be the result of ovarian complaints such as a cyst, a tumor, ovulation pain.

Homeopathic treatment

Homeopathy offers a very effective treatment in treating lower abdominal pain. Homeopathic medicines target the root cause of the problem and stimulate the body’s healing mechanism to overcome health problems naturally. These provide great relief from stomach pain without any side effects. By using these medications, the intensity and frequency of abdominal pain gradually decreases. The homeopathic prescription varies from case to case, depending on the characteristic individual symptoms. It is advised to take any homeopathic medicine under the supervision of a homeopathic doctor after a detailed case evaluation and avoid self-medication. Homeopathic medicines are recommended for mild to moderate intensity cases. In the case of acute, severe pain and for the pain arising from problems such as appendicitis, urgent help from the conventional mode of treatment should be used as homeopathy has a limitation in helping cases that have a serious cause.
