It should come as no surprise that the lack of activity in today’s humans has spawned new and problematic diseases as a result of poor decisions. Our current lifestyle is actually making us sick. To change that you have to change what you do and how you do it. Not only can diseases such as heart disease and the risk of stroke be potentially life-threatening, but living on the border between good and bad health in this way is no better for your body either. So today we’re going to discuss some things you can do to change your way of life and change this pattern before it’s too late. As always, you should consult a doctor before starting any new exercise or diet plan.

avoid lifestyle diseases

Step one should be obvious to most people. Walking is known to help reduce the risk of certain lifestyle diseases, such as heart disease. It’s a great cardiovascular workout for your body and can help you strengthen and tone your body for more strenuous activities in the future. Not only does it get your heart pumping, which helps to train your heart muscle, but it can also help you lose some extra pounds and all you have to do is walk! Most people start with a fifteen minute walk and escalate as they feel their body can handle it. Ultimately, you’ll want to continue for 30 minutes or more to get the most out of the workout.

Cut out the sugar, you may have a sweet tooth but it’s not doing you any good. If you can reduce your sugar levels to 10 percent of your daily calories, you can limit your body’s accessibility to issues like obesity and diabetes. If you have a hard time giving things up, you may want to try limiting yourself, reducing your soda intake to one or two a day instead of six if you’re a real soda junkie. Doing little things like this can greatly reduce your risk.

This next thing can be difficult, but it is essential if you want to help limit the number of diseases you may be susceptible to. Cut out processed foods and trans fats. Trans’s fats can affect your bad cholesterol levels, which can lead to a heart attack. The most common place to find these trans fats are in margarine, hydrogenated oils and battered foods.

Track your calorie intake, this can be difficult at first but after you install a system you will experience it like a game trying to beat your high score but this time you are trying to lower your score instead of increase. . By reducing your calorie intake, you reduce the chance that you will become susceptible to obesity and diabetes, among other lifestyle diseases.

Add strength training to your exercise regimen. Once you’ve been running for a while and your body has gotten used to more physical activity, start with some light strength training to strengthen your body. You can start with lightweight dumbbells or just do push-ups. Either way, strength training will reduce your chances of breaking bones in the future.

Another thing you can do is practice mind-body techniques to relieve stress and strengthen your immune system. By strengthening your immune system, you reduce the chance of contracting certain diseases in the future. Yoga or tai chi are some of the most popular techniques out there and you can usually find a class close to home.

Plan some activities that get you outside. Fresh air is the key to keeping yourself healthy. So stop sitting on the couch and go outside. Play soccer or other sports to get your body moving and enjoy the sun while it’s outside. Plan one day a week where you spend some time outside instead of inside, and you’ll soon find yourself spending more time outside.
