Buddhist Teaching On How To Calm The Mind

Tame the monkey mind

My mind has long been lost in search of happiness
Without knowing how transient all things are.
Seeing the unsatisfaction of real life experiences
I don’t let my thoughts wander outside.

Reversing the forces of harmful habitual tendencies
And holding firmly to the inner peace and tranquility,
I rejoice at the amount of joy I have discovered
In the happiness of observing the intrinsic tranquility.

Let this bright and radiant nature of the mind exist
Don’t let my usual tendencies overshadow you;
Abide in the natural calm of the mind
Let me see all observations as mere reflections.

Not grasping or rejecting any sense perception,
I will see them as unforeseen ripples and waves
From the sea of ​​my mind in deep meditation
And absorb them in the ocean of a clear mind.

While I concentrate my mind to sit in the right meditation posture
Let the physical self express the deep desire
To experience the calm, quiet and spacious nature of the mind
And transcend the problems I have with this body.

The incoming breath brings in all the positive things outside me
And pervades the entire nervous system of my body;
Like the rays of the morning sun driving away the darkness
It soothes the pain and temporary discomfort.

As I hold my breath, let me hold on
The vital energy of wakefulness and alertness
It allows me to let go and forgive the past
And to enjoy the fresh manifestation of this bare moment.

My outgoing breathing releases all feelings
From tension, anger, stress, fear and worries;
As if the mass of dark clouds suddenly disappears
Let the unforeseen circumstances pass to allow new beginnings to dawn.

Breathe and observe the naked moments of consciousness
Without imagining what it will become
May I live every moment with a pristine consciousness,
Without waiting for an unforeseen future to cultivate it.

Following the wise sages by respecting their words of wisdom
Let me remember skillful ways to apply them in everything
I do, say and think so that my behavior does not harm others
And I don’t become a victim of what I do, say and think.

As you watch the constant stream of thoughts
Without distinguishing between those who are good or bad
Don’t let me be overly happy with my meditation either
Also not depressed because of my lack of concentration.

Sinking into a withdrawal of the senses
Is relaxation of the conscious self, but not meditation.
Let me not be excited by the light virtues of concentration
I just started experiencing.

Holding the rope of mindfulness and the hook of alertness,
May I decide to tame this spirit, which resembles a wild elephant.
Concentrating the mind steadily with a moderate application of antidotes,
May I discover what is causing the unrest?

If I do not find objects of the senses that are not my own reflection,
All visions and experiences are outlines of myself.
Like trees and mountains, rivers and the earth
My existence is to give and share what I have with others.

How can I hold on to what I have received from others?
As soon as I let go of something, I create space and experience joy;
As soon as I give things away, I experience a joy that I can’t find in keeping them.
Learning to cherish others will bring me happiness that will last.
