4. Curb the appeal of social media
In an age where social media dominates our lives, staying present can be a major challenge. The constant notifications, comparison culture, and endless scrolling can easily distract our attention from the real world. Recognizing this, I have consciously worked to minimize the influence of social media in my life.
I started this journey by setting limits on my screen time and allocating specific periods of time to check my social accounts instead of mindlessly scrolling through the day. Additionally, I unfollowed stories that promoted unrealistic ideals or made me feel like I wasn’t good enough. Instead, I started following stories that inspired, taught, or brought positivity to my life.
By reducing my digital footprint, I’ve made room for real connections and meaningful experiences in the real world. I notice that I am more involved in conversations, hobbies and more attuned to my environment. This continued effort brings me closer to living a life of greater presence and purpose.
