Alopecia and Homeopathy

Alopecia is a medical term that refers to the partial or complete loss of hair on areas of the body where hair normally grows. It can affect both men and women and can occur for a variety of reasons, including genetics, autoimmune diseases, hormonal changes, medical treatments (such as chemotherapy), stress, thyroid disease, nutritional deficiencies and certain skin conditions.

  1. Androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern baldness): This is the most common form of hair loss, usually characterized by gradual thinning of the hair on the scalp in a specific pattern.
  2. Alopecia areata: This is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the hair follicles, leading to sudden hair loss in small, round patches on the scalp or other parts of the body.
  3. Alopecia totalis: This refers to the complete loss of hair on the scalp.
  4. Alopecia universalis: This is the most severe form of alopecia, characterized by the loss of all body hair, including scalp hair, eyebrows, eyelashes and body hair.

Over the past year I have seen many people with different types of alopecia and have had success in supporting them in regaining hair growth and sometimes completely regrowing hair. Some of these cases are in the early stages and require at least a year or more as the hair grows slowly.

The first thing I do is find out any underlying causes, because it is important to also support this underlying cause.

Did you know that stress you had 3 months ago is the reason your hair is falling out now? So it’s not something immediate, it’s something that happens three months later.

What I then do is use a constitutional remedy to support your body in rebalancing. A means to stimulate hair follicle growth and what you also need to balance the underlying cause of an underactive thyroid. We can use some functional foods for nutritional problems. We would tackle the diet. If there were problems, we would heal the intestines, and so on.

Once the balance and issues are addressed, continue using the hair remedy for a year or more, no longer needing to see me regularly, just reordering the follicle stimulating remedy.
