Adjustment tips: essential oils and other ingredients
One of my favorite things about homemade soap is how adjustable it is. Although this recipe includes sweet orange essential oil for a fresh, citrus -like scent, you can easily exchange it for another essential oil or omit it completely if you prefer an unparalleled beam.
Choose the right essential oils
Essential oils not only add odor, but can also improve the feeling of the soap. Here are a few options that you might like:
- Lavender – Classic and calming, great for a relaxing shower.
- Peppermint -Cooling and refreshing, perfect for a morning wake-up.
- Tech – A fresh, clean scent that is often used in skin care.
- Eucalyptus -A spa-like aroma that fits well with the natural scent of Oatmeal.
- Lemon or lime – Clear and uplifting, similar to sweet orange.
Over the years I have tried so many different combinations and I think that citrus oil (although I still love it) tends to fade faster in cold process soap, so if you want a long -term scent, go for lavender, tea tree or peppermint.
Out Out Oatmeal: other exfoliants and add-ins
Although this recipe used oatmeal because of its soft exfoliating properties, you can easily change it for other natural exfoliants to adjust the texture and the feeling of your soap. Here are some great alternatives:
- Coffee – Add a little grit for extra peeling.
- Poppy seeds – A soft, natural exfoliator with a mild scrub.
- Coconut milk or honey – Helps create a creamy, hydrating foam while adding a touch of luxury.
If you have one soapYou can also omit the exfoliants completely and still get all the benefits of this nourishing oil mix.
Keep in mind that some ingredients, such as honey and milk, can accelerate track (When the soap gets thicker), so work quickly if you decide to add them!
The great thing about making soap is that you can adjust the recipe that matches your preferences. Whether you keep it simple or experiment with different scents and textures, you will end with a beautiful, handmade soap that fits you perfectly.
