A common problem in winter: wool allergy occurs in the form of rashes, skin irritation and redness while wearing woolen clothes. Pimples, blisters (fluid-filled eruptions on the skin), itching, dry skin with cracks and bleeding may also occur. Excessive scratching due to itching can result in open sores on the skin that increase the risk of secondary infections. In addition, you may experience nose and eye complaints, such as runny nose, sneezing, nasal congestion, eye irritation and watery eyes. In many cases, wool can cause symptoms of irritation rather than an actual allergic reaction. It has been proposed that wool itself is not an allergen, but lanolin present in wool can lead to allergic symptoms in some cases. Also, the dye used in wool clothing may contain chemicals that can cause an allergic reaction in some.

Homeopathic treatment

Homeopathy offers a very natural and effective treatment for cases of wool allergy. The homeopathic medicines treat these cases safely and gently without any side effects. They help manage skin and nose problems resulting from wool allergy. These help in effectively treating rashes, eruptions, dryness, skin cracks and itching and burning sensation on the skin. These medications also miraculously relieve nasal symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose and itchy watery eyes. There are no specific medicines in homeopathy to treat wool allergy and from the general medicines the most suitable medicine should be chosen in each case based on the individual symptoms. So, it is advisable to consult a homeopathic doctor if you are taking any homeopathic medicine for the treatment of wool allergy. Self-medication should not be done.

Homeopathic medicines for wool allergy

1. Sulfur – Top recommended drug

Sulfur is a highly recommended homeopathic medicine to treat skin problems associated with wool allergy. This medicine works well against itching on the skin. It may be accompanied by a burning sensation on the skin. Scratching temporarily relieves the itching. However, after scratching, the affected skin area begins to burn and becomes painful. When scratching, bleeding spots may appear on the affected areas of the skin. In most cases where this medicine is needed, the itching gets worse at night when you lie in bed. The itching may shift from one area to another on the skin. A feeling of ants crawling over the skin can occur with the above complaints. In some cases, small fluid-filled eruptions (vesicles) may appear on the affected skin. This medicine is also indicated for rough and flaky skin or crusting on the skin.

2. Psorinum – For itching worse by heat

Psorinum is an effective medicine when the itching of the skin is aggravated by heat. It is accompanied by a stinging sensation on the affected skin area. Individuals who require this medicine have the urge to scratch the skin until it bleeds. When rubbing the affected part, small eruptions may form on the skin. These eruptions can occur with or without fluid. The eruptions are small, red and covered with white scales. The skin is generally dry.

3. Natrum Mur – For skin and nose complaints due to wool allergy

This medicine is an excellent help with skin and nose complaints that occur with wool allergy. This medicine is indicated for fluid-filled eruptions (i.e. blisters). The eruptions erupt and ooze fluid and then become covered in thin flakes. This medicine is also beneficial for cases where rashes form specifically in the flexion of joints, such as elbow flexion and knee flexion. They leak fluid. Sometimes crusty eruptions appear along with cracks. In some cases, scaly eruptions develop on the affected skin area. For nasal complaints, this medicine provides great relief from complaints such as runny nose and sneezing that can occur as a result of allergies. A runny nose can alternate with a blockage in the nose. A burning sensation may be felt in the nose. Tears may come from the eyes.

4. Graphites – For dry, rough, itchy skin

Graphite is a very important medicine for treating cases of dry, rough skin accompanied by itching. A burning sensation may also occur. Sometimes cracks appear on the skin. This drug is also well indicated for treating fluid-filled eruptions that release a sticky and glue-like fluid. It is also an excellent medicine to help cases where rashes occur in skin folds such as armpits, elbow and knee bends and groin (this area lies in the fold where the lower abdomen and thighs meet).

6. Merc Sol – For red rash covered with blisters

This medicine is useful for red rashes on the skin covered with fluid-filled eruptions (blisters). They ooze thin, clear fluid. After oozing fluid, the redness on the skin persists for several days, about a week or so. The blisters may be surrounded by dry scales. This medicine is also indicated for dry eruptions that bleed frequently. Subsequently, this medicine is indicated for skin inflammations with yellow crusts. This medicine is also useful for itching of the skin at night in bed. The itching is intense with an urge to scratch a lot. The skin is painful to the touch.

7. Petroleum – For rough, dry skin accompanied by cracks

This medicine is of great use in rough, dry skin accompanied by cracks. Bleeding can occur from these cracks. Clear fluid may also seep from the cracks. The affected skin is dry and flaky. In some cases, skin peeling may occur. This medicine can also be used for small fluid-filled eruptions that form around the joints along with itching.

9. Rhus Tox – For red, swollen, itchy skin

This medicine is recommended if the skin is red, swollen and accompanied by itching. There is a dry and heated feeling on the skin. Eruptions may appear on the skin along with flaking. A burning sensation is felt after scratching. Rubbing worsens rashes.

10. Allium Cepa – To treat nose and eye symptoms

This medicine can be used symptomatically to treat nasal and eye symptoms in allergic cases. This medicine provides relief from excessive, watery discharge from the nose. It is accompanied by a burning sensation in the nose, accompanied by sneezing. Itching is also felt in the nose. The nose sometimes feels full. Next, it is helpful if symptoms include watery, itchy eyes and a burning sensation in the eyes.
