- get greater involvement
- get new customers
- …etc
A digital marketing strategy will entail this a series of actions helping your wellness business achieve its long-term and short-term goals through selected online marketing channels. These include earned, paid and owned mediaall aimed at achieving that goal. Earned media is content that others create about you, such as reviews or Instagram posts, paid media is content that you pay to place in front of an audience as an advertisement or sponsorship, and own media is content that you create and manage, such as your Facebook page or your website.
1. Conduct market research
Start conducting market research to discover your customer needs and your specific business needs and investigate what your competitors are doing.
Find out what defines your wellness business:
- Are you good at yoga, massage, sound healing, corporate wellness programs or providing wellness information, among other skills?
- what are your company values, objectives, mission and vision?
- How do your customers experience your company?
Then come up with a clear definition of your target group – the specific group of people to whom you want to receive your marketing messages. They are the ones likely to come to your sound baths or sound healing sessions, and they share some common characteristics, including behavior and demographics.
At the end of your market research, you should have discovered what you are good at, who your audience is and what you do better than your competitors. These will later shape your website and social media channels.
2. Create your website
Your website is often the first point of contact with your company.
However, just have it a website is not enough, like it should be well designed, easy to use and optimized for search engines to truly benefit your business. So, try to take advantage of your pre-existing skills such as web design, graphic design, content writing and photography (if you have them), and if not, look for the best people to help you create your website.
Then determine your goal, choose a hosting provider and a website template, and start building your pages with beautifully written content, high quality images and good SEO. Then all you have to do is test and promote your website to your target group!
3. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the art of page reach rank higher in search engines such as Google. Since search is one of the main ways people discover content online, higher search engine rankings can lead to an increase in traffic to your website.
A great SEO strategy always includes providing informative and engaging content focused on the needs and wishes of your target group. With the right content you attract the right visitors who have a high chance of becoming customers.
The four pillars of SEO are:
- Technical SEO – can your content be indexed and crawled? (crawling is discovering pages and links that lead to more pages, and indexing is storing, analyzing, and organizing the content and connections between pages)
- Content – do you have engaging and informative content targeted to your ideal customers?
- On-page SEO – is your site’s HTML and content optimized?
- Off-page SEO: How do you build authority for your site to improve search results?
In fact, as part of a great SEO strategy, it is possible start a blog on your website where you post non-promotional posts with valuable content about your customer’s pain points. Discuss the problems your target group faces, offer solutions and only then tell them how your services will help solve these challenges.
For example, you can be a good healer for clients struggling with anxiety and depression. You could then write blogs on topics like ‘5 simple ways to ease your anxiety with healing sounds’, ‘top mantras to release your anxiety’, etc.
4. Social media marketing
Social media marketing is a strategy that uses various social media channels as marketing tools. These platforms allow you and your business to do just that connect with your audience to build your brand and reputation, increase sales and drive traffic to your website.
The most popular social media channels are:
- TikTok
- YouTube
- Tweet
As you can see, there are many platforms available, making it difficult to choose which ones are best for your business. However, your market research has shown you where to find your audience and what type of content they like to consume.
Normally for a wellness business, most people expect to see and interact with content mainly on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Pinterest.
5. Measure your success
By measuring you can determine what works and what doesn’t. You can then improve, eliminate or adjust for better results.
Start by identifying what you want to improve and then set a benchmark to measure success. Think about whether you need:
- improve your SEO efforts
- focus on creating more valuable content
- improve your social media engagement
- change the timing of your email marketing campaigns
You can use Google Analytics to understand the performance of your website, and for social media, you can use the built-in Analytics or Insights sections of each social platform.
