After what some may consider the “gloom of winter,” we welcome the newness of spring. We watch in awe as the beauty of nature unfolds in green grasses, colorful flowers and radiant sunshine. Winter rest is absolutely necessary for this spring revival. The quiet solitude allows plants and animals to rest deeply, so that they can awaken reborn in the spring. The cold snowfall blankets the earth, providing more than just beautiful scenery, but a layer of protection for the roots and bulbs that also nourishes the entire ecosystem beneath our feet.
As it is in our nature, humans tend to gather and gather, just like animals in the wild. We follow this example naturally, often without conscious thought. We may be holding onto clothes or items that were once useful, but have now outlived their time. But now that spring has arrived, it’s time to let go of everything we’ve collected and set aside. No additional facilities are required in the spring. We can step outside and enjoy the warmth of the sun, the extra daylight and the fresh, crisp air. Time indoors can be replaced with time spent in nature: digging in the ground, walking through a forest, sitting next to a stream.
The extra “stuff” we hold on to no longer has any value once spring arrives. After all, they are only physical objects and cannot replace the beauty and abundance of natural creations in our midst.
Join the spring release!
Let go of everything you have collected during the cold season. Join nature in its renewed growth and creativity.
Start with tangible objects: clothes, shoes, books, furniture, or anything else that no longer brings joy to your life. Donate these goods or find someone who can give them new life. As you release these items, smile knowing they will bring new joy to others. Breathe in the knowledge that you are making room for nature’s fulfillment in your life.
Move on and let go of everything else in your life that isn’t bringing you happiness. Need a change? Now is the time to do it. Jump on the energetic momentum of spring. Find that job transfer, renovate your living room, break away from a one-sided, energy-consuming ‘friendship’ and find your own feet. This is your chance to let go, refresh, and create a year of everlasting joy.
