Chances are, you are not the same person you were when you graduated from college, got married, had your first child, or started your job. Life has a way of changing you. You live and you learn. And as you learn, you grow in measurable and immeasurable ways. Sometimes you only notice those changes when you meet friends you haven’t seen in decades, or when you look back on a social media update you shared a decade ago. When you do, it often feels surreal, and the chapters in your life story begin to become clearer.
As life progresses, it’s important to remember that the people around you grow and change too. Sometimes the curves of life bring you closer together, and other times you have to look for common ground to remind yourself of that connection. But no matter where life takes you, part of growing is learning to continually reinvent yourself.
Maybe you’ve been working at the same company for 30 years. Maybe you started as an intern and worked your way up to VP, or you used the lessons you learned from those you met to help you grow within the same role.
Or maybe you’ve changed careers three or four times. Regardless of your field of study, you have learned to acclimatize to a changing environment and take on challenges, applying the skills you have acquired along the way in your varied career.
Whatever your path, today is a brand new beginning. Every day you have the chance to take a chance, learn something new, expand yourself and become who you were meant to be. It may take a change in perspective to realize that the path you are walking on is no longer meant for you. Where are you going?
