The Greatest Journey Is Within

Health is defined as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. With the rapid advancement in medical sciences, we are now able to find cures for almost all diseases and ailments. There are treatments for every body condition. But what about our mental health? Are we really paying attention to the well-being of our minds and is there a journey we can take to discover more?

This is the moment when we start looking deeper into ourselves. We are always looking for happiness and peace outside of us, when it is nowhere else but within us. But over the years we have forgotten how to look within. Thoughts, both negative and wasteful, cloud our minds, making it difficult to see clearly within.

It is important to first know what meditation is. Where are we going? What should we feel? What are we looking at?

The most important journey you can make is the journey within. This is a journey to the truth of who you really are. This is the place, just beyond everyday consciousness, where spiritual empowerment begins. Spiritual power gives you the power to choose creative thinking over automated thinking, response over reaction, peace, love and harmony over stress, conflict and chaos.

Meditation allows you to begin this inner journey. Meditation gives you a clear spiritual insight into yourself, helps you rediscover and use the positive qualities already latent within you, allows you to develop your strength of character and create new attitudes and responses to life. You begin to remember things about yourself that you once knew but had long forgotten. You begin to enjoy moments of silence and periods of introspection and reflection.

Meditation also helps you break free from harmful thinking, feeling, and reaction habits. This results in a conscious, positive release of energy that improves the quality of your attitude, actions and interactions.

The process of going within, disconnecting from harmful habits, connecting with your innate spiritual resources, and reconnecting with your external life, gives you personal power in a lasting way. Meditation is taught as a method to increase self-awareness, leading to self-realization. Meditation quiets the mind and enables the intellect to gain insight and understanding into the spiritual laws and principles that maintain harmony and can bring natural renewal to all levels of life on earth.

Like any skill, meditation requires practice to achieve satisfactory results. More and more people are adding some form of meditation to their daily routine, either as an effective antidote to stress or as a simple method of relaxation. By meditating a little every day, it quickly becomes a natural and easy habit that richly rewards you for the effort it entails.
