The Medicinal Uses and Health Benefits of Licorice

“A spoon of sugar makes the medicine down” is a philosophy that was made famous by the magical babysitter Mary Poppins in the 1960s. However, if Mary Poppins had been a herbal scientist, she would have fully enchanted the world with another song.

Sweet wood root, or sweet carrot, Has a candied taste that distinguishes it as a crown jewel in herbism. Moist and inviting, sweet -root makes the flavors of other herbs acceptable, and invites those who are in need of sipping or swallowing. Certainly, licorice root has a single and sugary taste, without even a hint of fennel or anise herb, which are generally associated with black licorice.

Categorically known as a ‘harmonizer’, Licority root makes a wide range of ingredients together in formula and unites herb energy in the body. Licority Root, used for thousands of years in Chinese medicine, is known for moving Chi, improving energy, supporting a healthy inflammatory reaction and moist dry tissues. Most herbs dry, so the ability of Licority root to calm and moisten membranes, at the same time distinguishes it as great support for respiratory, digestive and urinary health. When the individual ingredients of licorice root meet moisture in the body, they create a sweet mucus used to smear and calm up cramped, dry or inflamed cough.

Liquorice root is demanding in his actions; Supporting and promoting a healthy adrenal cortex. It also creates a protective layer on the mucous membranes so that the healing process can begin. Used in formulation to calm and moisten, sweet -root root is in fact the divine harmonizer for cough, nose, mouth, throat and lung formula, and is a nursing agent for a distressed or inflamed stage of indigestion.
