Three Herbal Teas for Seasonal Allergies

While we love spring and all that it brings, we don’t like the sneezing, itchy eyes, and dry throats that come with the season. If you suffer from seasonal allergies, you are not alone! Almost 50 million Americans have symptomatic allergies that occur as soon as the pollen count starts to rise. There are TONS of allergy remedy options on the market, but one of our favorite ways to provide support during allergy season is with herbal teas. Not only do many herbs support a healthy histamine response, but drinking warm tea is a surefire way to soothe your throat and airways. Here are some teas we recommend to help relieve your symptoms, and some WishGarden remedies that pair well with each tea.

1. Rooibos Tea – the best general seasonal support tea

Rooibos tea is an excellent choice for combating allergy symptoms. Rooibos tea is a traditional South African drink made from a shrub native to the region. This tea is packed with antioxidants and antihistamine properties derived from quercetin, a bioflavonoid. Itchy eyes and runny nose, gone! Give this tea an extra dimension by adding 6-8 pumps of our Kick-Ass Allergy formula. Effective support for people suffering from seasonal allergies caused by irritants such as pollen, grasses and weeds; but also useful for people who suffer from animal dander, mold, smoke and even those with food sensitivities. Kick-Ass Allergy is body-friendly, non-stimulating and non-sedating. Sit back, enjoy your tea and let the soothing power of this powerful herbal blend help you feel your best.

2. Peppermint tea – best for sinus problems

Peppermint tea is a good choice for people with an affinity for sinus irritation associated with seasonal allergies. Can’t you breathe? This is for you! Peppermint modulates the immune system’s response to irritants causing the secretion of histamine, the chemical responsible for sneezing, itching, watery eyes and other uncomfortable symptoms. It will help clear those airways so you can breathe easier and sniffle-free. We recommend adding 2-4 droppers of Kick-Ass Sinus to this tea. Kick-Ass Sinus is formulated to support healthy secretions and immunity, while herbal lymphatics help expel invaders. With ingredients like Yerba Santa Leaf, Sage Leaf, Yerba Mansa Root, Baptisia Root, Elderflower and more, Kick-Ass Sinus is a great addition to peppermint tea.

3. Lemon Balm Tea – the best mild seasonal support for children

Lemon balm is part of the mint family and has a delicious (you guessed it!) lemony flavor. That’s why we recommend Lemon Balm Tea for your little ones who need extra support during allergy season. Lemon balm tea is very relaxing and soothing for tension in the head and breathing problems. A cup of warm Lemon Balm tea with some honey is a great introduction to herbal tea for children and is very supportive of your child’s overall histamine response during allergy season. We recommend adding 1-3 drops (depending on the child’s age) of our Kick-It Allergy Seasonal Rescue For Kids for the best results from this tea. Allergy formulas for adults are often too strong for children’s small bodies, so we formulated Kick-It specifically for children with nettle leaf, Yerba Santa leaf and Echinacea. This tea and tincture combination is a great way to support your child’s immune, respiratory, and lymphatic system. There you have it! Now you’re equipped with the herbal heroes you need to get through allergy season like a pro!
