5. Holy water rituals: blessings for innovation

Water has long been a symbol of healing, purification and renewal, and during Imbolc RitualsIt has a sacred meaning that embodies the cleansing energy and the new beginning that represents this season. This year I include a simple but meaningful water -ritual in my party – one that is both grounding and deeply connected to the natural world.

If the weather permits, I collect fresh water from a natural source – a stream, a spring or even melted snow. If that is not possible, I will use clean water from my house and blessing with a moment of calm gratitude.

With this water ointment the most important areas of my house, such as doors, window sills and even my altar, using a small sprig of rosemary or another herb bound to innovation. While I go through every room, I will concentrate on the intention of removing persistent negativity and inviting to fresh, lively energy.

On a more personal level I will also use this water to fill myself. I will carefully touch it to my forehead, heart and hands, in silence to clarity of thought, warmth of spirit and the power to bring my intentions forward.

This ritual does not have to be extensive to be powerful. The simple action of connecting with water or the now through contact, visibility or even its sound drips me to his life-giving and transforming qualities.

While the wheel of the year is running, water serves as a bridge between what is and what is yet to come. It is a memory that, just like the earth under the winter frost, we can also heal, grow and start over.
