Words of Wisdom: Finish What You Started

Delay. Is it a defining characteristic or something we do every now and then? Many would say that they procrastinate occasionally, especially if the task at hand is something they dread. Others agree that no matter the project, they wait until the last possible second to complete it. (You know who you are!)

There are many reasons why people procrastinate, but everyone agrees on one thing: procrastination causes unnecessary stress and anxiety.

Many New Year’s resolutions indicate procrastination. For example, people may decide to finish something that has been put aside for the past year, or create a to-do list with realistic deadlines and expectations so that things actually get completed. The funny thing is that we often take the time (and Qi) to add items to our to-do or wish lists. In fact, we have put time, effort, money and more (Qi) into starting many of these projects. But as we move forward, we can get sidetracked, frustrated, lose confidence, or even lose interest, and the item we started is left undone.

So whether you’re starting a new project, looking for a new job, planning a vacation, playing pickleball, or starting your own journey to inner freedom, stop hitting the snooze button. If it’s important enough to begin with, it deserves the energy and attention needed to see it through to completion.
