There is enough to know about the humidity in your house. For example, dry air does not affect your sinuses or airways. Increasing humidity, such as with a humidifier, will add moisture back in the air. However, you only need a humidity level between 30 and 50 percent.

If your house is too moist, dust mites and fungus can develop, making you feel worse. After cooking or showering with exhaust gases, your house can retain the humidity on the recommended levels.

Regardless of the age of your heating or air conditioner, regularly cleaning the filters must be part of your HVAC maintenance routine. If you Do not replace the air filters of your houseThey cannot catch contaminants, which means that reduced indoor air quality. You also ensure that your HVAC units work harder, increasing your utility accounts.

Keeping your air filters clean is generally not difficult because it does not require tools. That said, always switch off air conditioner or heating before you touch the filters to prevent injury.

Reducing chemical pollutants

Many everyday items release volatile organic compounds (VOS) that worsen indoor air quality. Choosing low-voc products, such as paint, cleaning sprays and furniture with low VOC or non-toxic, will make a difference. Switching to environmentally friendly cleaning supplies that use vegetable ingredients instead of hard chemicals is also favorable. When storing chemicals, keep painting, thinner and cleaning patterns tightly sealed and away from living spaces.

Standard vacuum cleaners can stir dust in the air, but a HEPA filter vacuums small particles in the air. Keep the hard floors clean by mopping and washing sheets, pillowcases and blankets weekly. Linen often host dust mites that can activate allergies.
