It’s that time of year again, when we’re starting to think about buying Christmas presents. And I don’t know about you lot, but to me it feels like it gets harder and harder each year trying to come up with gifts that hit the right spot. Thankfully adidas have come to the rescue. Because if you’re looking for a gift that works for everyone, adidas Campus 00s family trainers tick all the boxes.
I’ve got two teenage kids – a seventeen year old son and a fifteen year old daughter. Now, my daughter is fairly easy to buy for, most girls are, right? But teenage boys and husbands for that matter, are a whole different ball game. So yeah, coming up with ideas isn’t exactly the easiest.
You’ll see from the title of my post that I’m calling these adidas Campus 00s family trainers. That’s obviously not their official name – I’ve totally added the ‘family trainers’ part. But you’ll see why when you read the rest of the post.
Adidas Campus 00s Trainers
I’ve been an adidas girl ever since I was a teenager back in the 90s. Back then, girls trainers were all about the classic black and white Gazelles. I saved up money from my job in a motorway service station so that I could order them from my mum’s catalogue. And when I finally got them, I can still vividly remember just how cool I felt when I wore them out for the very first time.
That’s the thing with adidas, and especially with their shoes, it evokes a feeling. I’m fairly certain if you asked someone, they’d be able to tell you exactly when they got their first pair of adidas trainers, what colour they were, and where they were when they first wore them. It’s just one of those iconic life moments.
Because trainers are a big deal when you’re a teenager. They make a statement. And that kinda continues when you’re an adult too, just in a slightly different way.
Now, remember earlier I mentioned that I call these the adidas Campus 00s family trainers? Well, let me explain.
You see, there aren’t many things a teenager would feel comfortable wearing that they’d also be happy their parents wearing too. There’s no way my teenage son would be seen dead in the same hoodie as my husband, for example. That would be classed as massively uncool. Like, almost to the point of unforgiveable. And yet there’s something so effortlessly cool about the adidas Campus 00s family trainers, that somehow they bypass this rule and it’s allowed.
It’s hard to find a shoe that transcends all ages, and yet the Campus 00s manage it. And so I ordered us all a pair.

It’s All About The Colours
The best thing about adidas trainers, is that they always come in so many different colours. Which means when you do decide to kit the whole family out in them, you can at least make sure everyone gets a different colour.
Here are the colours we ordered:
- Me – Grey Three / Cloud White / Off White
- Husband – Beige / Almost Yellow / Core White
- Son – Olive Strata / Cloud White / Off White
- Daughter – Earth Strata / Core White / Earth Strata
Same shoes, but subtle enough to be different. There’s me, who’s usually a safe white or black trainers girl, but in this instance I’ve gone for grey to blend between the two. There’s my husband who loves a classic brown and is happy with whatever as long as it goes with his favourite pair of jeans. There’s my son who picked the boys trainers in olive, to get that urban street vibe so he can look cool at college. And then there’s my daughter, the queen of pastels and all things summery, who chose yellow trainers to add a joyful splash of colour to her outfits.
And yes they’re the same trainers, but when you see them altogether in the photo, they all make a very different statement in their own right. Meaning we can all leave the house wearing them at the same time, and not one of us has an issue with it!

Everything You Need To Know About Adidas Campus 00s
The original Campus design, or Tournament as it was first known, was first released in the late 1970s. And the name was changed to Campus in the 80s. So, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the Campus 00s were an updated version that was released in the 2000s. But they haven’t been around as long as that (they actually came out in 2022).
The reason they’re called Campus 00s is because they take style inspiration from the skater aesthetic that was around during that time. And when you look at the trainers you can easily see why.
From the deep, chunky sole, the wide laces, and the overall enhanced proportions of the shoes, the Campus 00s deffo give off a laid back energy that’s reminiscent of skater youths. Some people dismiss them as looking a bit like clown shoes, slightly clumsy, and perhaps even cartoon like in appearance. But in a way that’s part of their charm.
They are big, they are exaggerated, but that’s kinda the point. They’re made to be worn with big baggy jeans and slouchy wide legged trousers, because that’s the look book. And with that comes comfort. Oh my goodness such extreme comfort. These trainers are seriously like slipping on a pair of comfortable slippers. A pair of slippers that you can wear outside and that actually look cool. I mean, who cares what the teenagers think about them, this is a middle aged woman’s dream!

The suede is good quality, just remember to give them a spray with some suede protector if you want to wear them in all weathers, and especially if you choose a light colour like myself and my daughter. Oh and each pair comes with an extra pair of white laces, so you can switch up how they look with each of your outfits.
What makes the Adidas Campus 00s family trainers stand out to me, is their timeless design and all-day comfort. You’ve got retro vibes combined with casual comfort, I mean it’s no wonder it appeals to teens and parents alike.
I mean there’s no denying, they just look really cool, right?! I love the retro, I love the overall aesthetic, and I love that I get to be down with the kids and they haven’t got an issue with me being down there with them.
So listen, if you’re a parent who’s missing the days of matching Christmas pyjamas or being able to dress your kids in mini me versions, buying a pair of adidas Campus 00s for the entire family is totally the way to go this Christmas.
