Ruler: Jupiter
Colour: Blue
Element: Firework
Season: Summer
Aromatic: Ylang Ylang, Cinnamon and Rose

The Sagittarius Personality

Sagittarians were born under a fire sign. Sagittarians do not like to be tied down, they are free spirits with a warm, friendly personality and an independent spirit. They are optimistic and look for the good in their friends and family. With such an approach to life they are very popular. Sagittarians don’t get distracted by the small details and distractions of life, they see the bigger picture and look to the future without fear. They are often very knowledgeable and are the type of person people go to when they feel like they need help. This makes them exceptionally good therapists, but the negative side of this is that they can take on too much work or literally take on their client’s problems or aches and pains. Sagittarians are very simple and say what they mean so that friends trust them. The downside is that they sometimes talk without thinking and unintentionally upset people.

Sagittarians are free spirits and thrive on opportunity and challenging and supporting that trait in others, which is another reason why they are drawn to complementary therapy. Wary and generous, Sagittarians are like the archer: they aim their arrows far into the distance, they seek fun and long for adventure.

Aromatherapy perfume for Sagittarius

Ingredients:
20 drops Rose Essential Oil (reflects and enhances your natural warmth and loving personality)
8 drops of Ylang Ylang essential oil (to brighten the spirit and combat irritability)
2 drops cinnamon essential oil (warm and nourishing)
8 drops Lemon Essential Oil (a yellow color that complements the red of the rose and reflects the color of fire – helps with focus to control Sagittarians’ free spirit element that can sometimes get them into trouble)
15 ml grain alcohol (vodka)
20 ml orange blossom water (also called Orange Flower Hydrolat or Neroli Hydrolat)

Instructions:

Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata)
Ylang Ylang, known in folklore as the ‘flower of flowers’, is a sweet floral oil that uplifts the spirit and counteracts general irritability. Sagittarians like it because it has an element of shared joy and has a positive effect on the psyche, just as they do on their friends. A popular treatment for insomnia and depression, it slows breathing and helps reduce panic-related heart palpitations. In the Philippines, where the flower originates, the ylang ylang flower is highly revered and historically the oil extracted from the beautiful flowers is mixed with coconut oil and used to combat malaria and prevent wounds from becoming infected .

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum)
Cinnamon is a very warm oil with an affinity for fire, and because Sagittarius is a fire sign, it is the perfect choice. Cinnamon shares other Sagittarius characteristics in that it is robust and has a positive effect on other oils in elevating the perfume. It also has a scent that lingers long into the future and which ties in with the sign of Sagittarius, that is, the archer who fires arrows far into the future. The benefits of cinnamon have been recognized since ancient times and it is also used as perfume and incense. It is warming to the body and uplifting to the mind, helping to soothe nervous exhaustion and feelings of failure. It is also used to relieve sluggish digestion, pain and shivering fever and is beneficial for stiff joints and muscles due to old age or overexertion. It is also warming to areas with poor circulation and is comforting to those who feel sad. Cinnamon is considered a ‘precious oil’ by many cultures and as such makes a luxurious addition to any massage, room fragrance or bath blend.

Rose (rosa centifolia)
Rose like a Sagittarius is kind and friendly and uplifts the spirits of all who come into contact with it. Rose comes in all colors of the flame, making it an ideal match for the fire signs. Rose oil, which is extracted from the petals by distillation or solvents, is in our personal opinion unparalleled for the treatment of stress-related conditions, especially depression and anxiety. It has a very gentle but strong uplifting effect on the psyche and a balancing effect that can help individuals see problems in proportion. Many aromatherapists believe that rose can mimic the effects of hormones. Therefore, it is often used to treat psychological problems related to female bodily functions, such as menstruation or childbirth, for example PMS or postnatal depression.
