There’s nothing like opening a jar of canned apple pie filling in the dead of winter and bringing a touch of fall into your kitchen. The most obvious use is of course to make a classic apple pie: it’s virtually effortless once the filling is already prepared and ready to use. But that’s just the beginning!
One of my other favorite ways to use this filling is to heat some up and use it as a topping on vanilla ice cream. The combination is pure comfort food. I also love adding a scoop to my morning yogurt. It’s an easy way to give plain yogurt a boost, especially when I want a quick breakfast that feels like a treat.
It is also a tasty topping for cheesecake. The tartness of the apples perfectly balances the richness of the cheesecake, and the cinnamon and nutmeg in the filling give it a nice warm flavor. Another great way to use it is in bread pudding; the apples add a delicious texture and sweetness that complements the custard-like bread.
The possibilities are endless. You can even get creative and use it in crumbles, turnovers or in crescent rolls for a quick apple dessert. Whether you’re preparing something special or just looking for a simple snack, canned apple pie filling has so many uses and I love finding new ways to enjoy it! I bet you will too!
