When phones and laptops run out of battery, they turn off until someone plugs them in. If the lights in a car are left on all night, the battery will slowly drain until a jump start gets the car running again. Although our human body works slightly differently, the same principle applies.
How many times have you spread yourself so thin that walking from one thing to the next left you completely exhausted? Often we go and go and go until something forces us to stop. From commuting to home responsibilities and carpooling, by the time we reach the end of the day, we’re often so tired that our reserves run out.
So how do we recharge our batteries?
Here are three easy ways to refill your tank.
- Qigong exercise: Qigong is an energy exercise. Each Qigong movement works at the meridian level to keep Qi flowing through the body. A balanced body is a healthy body. Learn about the body’s meridians and practice the Four Energy Gates (see video below) every day.
- Make time for yourself: It’s always important to schedule ‘me-time’ every day, no matter how busy your schedule is. Give yourself real-time time to rest, renew, and creatively pursue what makes you happy.
- Eat and live close to nature: As the seasons change, many people experience colds, flu and seasonal allergies. Attune yourself to nature’s changing energy by spending time in nature and eating seasonal harvests. Seasonal food carries the essence of the season. What foods grow locally in your area? Visit a local farm or farmers market. Or better yet, grow the food yourself in an outdoor garden.
