How Your Bedtime Affects Your Heart Health

Everyone’s life is extremely busy and maintaining a consistent sleeping schedule that works for you and your routine can be difficult. Some people are night -owls and like to stay late and others work best when they wake up early. This all depends on your circadian rhythm and when your body rests best. If you go to bed and when you wake up consistently, it is essential for your body to get the best quality. There are certain times when people have to go to bed to enable their bodies to function efficiently and correctly.

Best bedtime for heart health

Your bedtime is incredibly important for the health of your heart. A recent study stated that going to bed between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. is associated with improved health health. A lot of research has been done into sleep time and cardiovascular disease, but the relationship between the time you sleep, and your risk of heart conditions is still unknown territory. A recent British study, however, decided to tackle this problem and investigated the concept by investigating people and checking for their nightly routines and their heart health.

The study

Researchers selected a group of more than 88,000 people consisting of 58% women and 42% men who were forty -three to nine years old. Participants were questioned at the beginning and the end of the 6-year study to check the development of heart conditions on the basis of when participants went to sleep. The participants were split into four groups: asleep before 10 p.m., asleep between 10 pm to 10 pm, asleep between 11 am-12 pm and asleep after midnight. After collecting all results, researchers have adjusted the results for the mitigating factors of many participants to ensure that the outcome was as accurate as possible. They looked at factors such as blood pressure and cholesterol levels, diabetes, smoking status and much more.

In general, the results of the study concluded that going to bed between 10 pm and 10.59 pm is the best for the health of your heart. Those who went to bed between ten and eleven had the lowest heart problems of all groups before bedtime. The research showed that 3.6 percent of the participants developed cardiovascular disease and the majority of those who developed the disease all went to bed before 10 p.m. or after 10:59 am.

The participants who went to bed before 10 p.m. had a 24 percent increased risk of cardiovascular disease compared to those who went to bed between 10 p.m. and 10 p.m. Those who went to sleep between 11 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. had an increased risk of 12 percent and people who went to sleep at midnight or later had an increased risk of cardiovascular disease compared to those who went between 10 p.m. and 10:59 p.m. If you are worried about the health of your heart, it is possible in your best interest to switch your bedtime to between 10 p.m. and 10.59 p.m.

For women with heart risks

Of the men and women who were participants in the study, women were much more likely to develop cardiovascular disease than men. Women who went to bed before ten hours or after eleven hours were much more at risk. On the other hand, the risk of men on cardiovascular disease only increased when they went to bed at night before ten and not when they went to bed after eleven o’clock. According to doctors who conduct the study, the reason for this separation may be due to a reaction difference in disturbances in the circadian rhythm between men and women. It can also be due to postmenopause in some older women.
