In a new world where parents are increasingly seeking natural alternatives to common discomforts or challenges for their children, it is important that we tune into our communities and work through these obstacles together. As concerns about synthetic ingredients and their potential effects increase, the search for safer solutions is gaining momentum and opening new avenues for innovative solutions.
There was a time when WishGarden considered discontinuing our Attention Ally Focus Friend for Kids (formerly Genius Juice Jr.) formula simply due to its lack of popularity. But our Customer Success Manager, Danielle Wetzstein, confidently protested this idea and we thank her for that! Danielle told us how effective the formula has been for her child over the years, and she didn’t know what she would do if it wasn’t available to her and her family. She suggested we just change the name to something more on the nose. Thanks to Danielle, this formula is still available to our communities and continues to help children with their focus, attention, cognitive skills and nervous system health.
I interviewed Danielle about her experience with the formula and why she loves it so much. This is what she shared with us:
I have been using Attention Ally for my son for almost 2 years now. I love this product for my kids because it is effective and my kids love the taste.
Children (actually all people) can sometimes become emotional, frustrated and restless when trying to complete a task. In my experience, Attention Ally works well to calm their emotions and body and improve concentration. As a herbalist, I love the herbs in this formula. They nourish the nervous system, provide micronutrients and cognitive functions. I often give this formula to my children after school, a time when they tend to be busy. Attention Ally helps them to ground themselves and stay focused on tasks such as homework, studying and chores. This product helps them calm their busyness (of body and mind) and allows them to organize their thoughts to carry out their responsibilities. Attention Ally has not negatively impacted my children’s sleep, which is a huge consideration for children, as any parent knows.
Attention Ally is an extremely valuable resource for parents, children and families.
Please note Ally works quickly – in the moment. Over time, my children recognized and enjoyed the calm focus that Attention Ally brought. Being successful at their task – whether it’s homework or studying for a test they take later is definitely worth it for them! Nerve boosters like milky oats help with this long-lasting cascade effect.
My kids think this formula tastes great and they start using it right away!
Attention Ally is a great asset, or shall I say ally, in addressing attention issues in children. The ingredients of this herbal formula are formulated to work quickly and nourish overstressed systems. Attention Ally can play an important role when used as part of a comprehensive program such as mindfulness exercises, addressing nutrient deficiencies, etc.
If necessary and approved by the doctor, using Attention Ally in addition to medications is a great idea because it contains herbs that nourish the body in the long term. It supports the nervous system with scullcap, passion flower and milky oats. It contains micronutrients and minerals from the nettles. And Gotu Kola is known to help with sleep problems, which many people with focus problems face.
From my experience, I think it is important to look at all options when supporting children who have difficulty concentrating, because one size does not fit all. For example, you wouldn’t expect an athlete with breathing problems to not use their inhaler or Deep Lung when necessary. People who have been diagnosed with attention disorders may benefit from help from medications or herbal remedies that work for them in a similar way. I love that integrative medicine (ND, acupuncturists, etc.) and herbal medicine tend to look at the whole person and ask detailed questions such as: are there any nutritional deficiencies? Food or environmental allergies? Conflicts in learning styles, etc. Addressing the whole person is essential. I would also include some mindfulness and meditation exercises.
Knowing your child and what works best for your family is the key to answering this question. Another reality is that nutraceutical and herbal supplements are expensive and not covered by major health insurance. This may be too expensive for some families to do over time. Sometimes judgments and stigmas can keep parents from exploring all options.
Attention Ally is great for young children, homeschoolers, and older kids who can do these kinds of things on their own.
Sleep hygiene has always been a priority for our family. Every evening around the same time, my kids get their clothes and backpacks ready for the next day, take a bath, brush their teeth, take Sleepy Nights for Kids & magnesium, and finally lie down in bed with a book in a quietly lit bedroom. I lay down to read and snuggle before turning off the lights for dream time.
**Side note: Please note: Ally and Sleepy Nights kids share some ingredients…milky oats and passionflower.
Sometimes now that they are older (11 & 13 years old). When they find it difficult to stay focused, they tend to turn to Attention Ally as a tool to help them succeed on their task. Sometimes I notice that they could use some extra help to stay on task.
