Other benefits of humming
As mentioned earlier, in addition to nitric oxide, humming also releases melatonin, which has positive effects.
For example:
– improved sleep
– support the immune system
– Anti-inflammatory and antiviral effect
– slowing down the aging process
In addition, humming leads to a decrease in heart rate and blood pressure, as briefly mentioned at the beginning. This in turn is related to the reduction of cortisol, the stress hormone. Humming also helps to reduce stress and anxiety, because it has a quick calming effect on our psyche and nervous system.
How to hum effectively
Humming allows us to massage ourselves internally and allows us to focus a specific intention on virtually any part of our body. And if you want to try it right away, you can follow it step by step using this basic instruction on “conscious humming”. Pay attention to your body and what is good for you. The effect of humming can be cumulative. This exercise takes a total of 10 minutes, in the first half you hum and in the second half you let the silence affect you.
1. Find a comfortable place where you can hum undisturbed
2. Sit up straight
3. close your eyes
4. Take a few deep, slow breaths to allow your body to relax
5. As you take this first deep breath, begin to focus your intention on what you want to experience through the humming and where in your body you want to feel it
6. After a few breaths, start humming in a way that feels comfortable to you
7. Breathe deeply for about 5 minutes and then let out a long hum
8. Pay attention to where the sound naturally resonates in your body
9. stop humming and give yourself 5 minutes of silence, noticing where the sound resonates and what changes you can notice
10. When you are ready, open your eyes and center yourself
I hope this exercise was enjoyable or inspirational to you.
