Understanding the Secret Frequency of Love
Science is hard at work demystifying the role of the heart in our lives, and looking beyond its function of pumping blood may be the first step in unlocking the potential of living at the frequency of love.
This is not romantic love, it is a state of resonance (rather than discord) with your own mind, with the people around you, and with nature. The key to living in flow involves tuning into your own center and letting your heart take the lead.
The new frontier of cardiac research
In my previous article, Beyond the limits of the intellect
we took an honest look at the limitations of interacting with the world through our thoughts alone, opening the door to understanding the wisdom inherent in feelings. The heart is actually part of our cognitive system and sends more messages to the brain than the brain sends to the heart. Electrically, the heart is 40 – 60 times stronger than the brain and many times stronger than any other electrical impulse in the body.
The sciences of psychology and medicine are in the midst of a major paradigm shift as research results have revealed that the heart is a sensory organ that can learn, retain memory, and make independent functional decisions. Even more surprising is the fact that the heart exhibits qualities of neuroplasticity, and that it can reorganize itself by growing new neural connections, just as the brain can. – Applied Consciousness International
Understanding the intelligence of our hearts
Any Google search related to heart and science will show a long list of links from the leader in this field of research, Heart Math. They have pioneered scientific research, but more importantly, they have created practical applications for this research that help individuals thrive. Increasing heart intelligence can have a profound effect on personal relationships, workplace productivity, reducing stress, while increasing optimism and problem-solving skills.
Using your heart as a compass can help you see more clearly which direction to take to stop self-destructive behavior – Doc Childre and Howard Martin, HeartMath
I think we all know what it feels like to do something we don’t really want to do, whether it’s taxes, a job we’re unhappy with, or acting out of integrity with our own beliefs. This obviously causes disagreement and stress. Often we experience these feelings beneath the surface of our consciousness, but our body still responds to the dissonance.
When our thoughts/brains are not in harmony with our feelings/hearts, it creates tension and resistance within our own system at a physiological level. By bringing awareness to this process, we can make choices that allow our system to work in harmony with itself, increasing energy and creating a heightened state of well-being. This efficient, optimal and harmonious functioning of the various systems in the body is known as coherence.
Do you want to experience flow? Increase coherence within yourself. Take this same principle and now apply it to your family, community and ultimately the planet. The curse of competition causes all of humanity, states, nations, religions, each other and natural systems to work against each other. The best way to increase global cohesion is to increase it at the individual level.
Finding coherence within
Fortunately, HeartMath has a very simple and effective exercise called Freeze-Frame that helps us develop greater coherence. It is a one-minute technique that allows a major change in perception. Even more than positive thinking, it creates a definitive, genuine change in the way we view a situation, an individual, or ourselves. When stressed:
Get out of your head and focus on the area around your heart.
Keep your attention there for at least ten seconds.
Continue breathing normally.
Think back to a positive time or feeling you had in your life and try to experience it again.
Remember, don’t just visualize it, try to feel it fully.
Ask a question from the heart: “What can I do in this situation to make it different?” or “What can I do to minimize stress?”
Listen to your heart’s response.

Hopefully this short blog will help you on your way to increasing coherence within your system. The first step in healing the discord in the world is healing it within ourselves. The science of the heart has the ability to reverse our stress and overwhelm as we transition to a more cohesive, peaceful world.
