Learning to Appreciate Yourself – TCM World

What does it mean to truly appreciate yourself and everything around you? To be grateful not only for the ‘things’ that make life easier and more enjoyable, but also for the invisible messages that you absorb every moment? Are you aware of all this goodness in your life? Giving ourselves space to grow, learn, and be ourselves is the true message of appreciation and thanksgiving.

What do you see when you look at a spring or summer garden? Do you only see flowers or do you notice the birds, the honey bees and the pattern of sunlight on the nearby grass? As you observe, do you see how the breath of nature moves the petals and makes the spirit of the flowers shine?

What do you feel when you are moved to tears by a beautiful experience? Are you humbled or motivated to do more, to be better? Are you truly absorbing every aspect of the experience and allowing it to permeate your inner being?

When you look up at a dark night sky full of twinkling stars, what fills you? Do you immediately feel calm? Are you aware of your breathing, your slowly slumping shoulders, your closing eyes? Nature has an amazingly calming effect on us, as long as we maintain the connection.

Appreciate the beautiful, everyday moments.

See the beauty in the garden.

Feel the joy and grace in a humbling experience.

Let the peace wash over you. These moments are reflections of ourselves. By seeing beauty around us, we can find and appreciate the goodness we have within us.
