Meditation is attunement
A person has three dimensions of his being that can be accessed at any time through meditation. The three layers of wisdom are the wisdom of the body, the wisdom of the heart and the wisdom of the mind. Meditation is connecting with our total being by tuning into these three dimensions of our existence to access their inherent wisdom, love and harmony.
The three dimensions we tune into have their own immediate wisdom and harmony, so by tuning into these facets of ourselves we can learn much and be guided by the intelligence that is innate at each level.
The three wisdoms of balance
, Love
And intuition
are unlocked and accessed through the power of a calm and focused mind during meditation training and mindfulness throughout the day or by literally remembering to tune in. A certain degree of trust in yourself is also necessary, as Zen master Thch Nhat Hanh says:
“What you seek is already within you…You are already everything you seek.”
The key to ‘attunement’ is a clearly focused attention without any conceptual commitment. We cannot ‘think’ there; we must become attentive and sensitive to what is already there. The wisdom we tune into is intuitive and already exists. We do not create the intelligence or harmony during meditation, we simply discover it and express it without ego.
Dropping out is not dropping out of society or our circle of friends, you can keep all that, it is literally dropping out of the ego. Giving up the habit of turning to entertainment on our devices, or being dependent on drugs and alcohol, or needing the attention and admiration of others for our happiness. It is letting go of the ego’s tendency to always want more and better and therefore never find fulfillment or satisfaction in the present moment. The happiness found in meditation awaits us now beneath all the compulsive thinking and habitual tendencies. stepping out of the ego and tuning in to the good station.
Tune into the body
We tune into the intelligence of our body by simply noticing our bodily sensations and bringing them into the light of consciousness. Not by thinking, but by directly experiencing our body exactly as it presents itself and by becoming sensitive to the subtle movements. This way you gain balance and the wisdom to make subtle corrections when you become out of balance and you gain insight into your physical reactions of fear or excitement.
Tune into the heart
The heart also has its own way of understanding that can be attuned to and now thanks to organizations like Heart Mathematics Institute
and in others we have scientific research demonstrating the enormous power of a good heart to increase and improve health and vitality. Tuning into our kind heart is essential to meditation training and an integral part of a spiritual life; nothing bothers us more than anger and resentment and nothing compares to the bliss of an open heart. This type of wisdom is love and has enormous potential to inform our actions and to help others understand and connect with it. Love is seeing the same good in others as you see in you.
Tune into intuition
Finally, connecting with universal intelligence is tuning into a clear and open consciousness and ultimately this is the key to accessing all dimensions because it is their source. You could call open consciousness a zero point; that experience in meditation of complete freedom and unlimited space. Your identity before thoughts. This space is our deepest nature, our center without boundaries. It is not just empty or empty like normal space, because the inner space is also imbued with intelligence and knowing, just like the other dimensions, this is the wisdom of intuition.
The easiest way to find and use your non-conceptual intuition is to sit still and still and look for a little gap in your thinking, when one thought ends and before the next thought arises. It will come. The small gap is a moment of clear awareness and is the beginning of a true understanding of ourselves. Ultimately, these gaps in thinking become longer and more permanent. Meditation master Sogyal Rinpoche says that tapping into this gap and then maintaining it is the key to meditation practice.
After a meditator has learned to tune into the body, heart, and open consciousness separately, he can expand his awareness to include all three at once. This is the ultimate goal of meditation; to become whole, to embody the wisdom energy that is available in every moment, express it in the world and realize your full potential.
