How often do you go out at night to look at the moon? Have you taken the time to actually see the moon? Seeing goes further than looking and observing. It means making a deep connection and feeling it inside. There is much more to the moon than meets the eye.
Preparation and cooperation
This year, October’s full moon follows the Harvest Moon. That is why it is known as the Full Hunter’s Moon. The name may change from year to year depending on when it takes place. The Hunter’s Moon was mentioned by North American tribes who would use this lunar time wisely to prepare for the coming cold winter months, working with the wisdom of nature. After harvesting corn and grains in the weeks before, tribes and settlers used the light of the Hunter’s Moon to hunt deer and foxes as they searched for fallen grain.
Although most people no longer hunt and gather in the same ways the ancient tribes did to survive, we can use this heavenly presence to come together in a different way. Here we stand in the presence of the moon and gather the essence of the moon through our Qigong practice. This effort can contribute to the quality of our entire system, which has a direct impact on our health.
The moon and women’s health
The moon rotates on its axis every 27 days. It also travels around the Earth every 27.3 days, similar to the female reproductive cycle. Ancient Qigong masters and traditional Chinese physicians used the moon’s energetic presence to reset the body with a quality full moon exercise. From an energetic perspective, they knew that just one full moon day equals the power of 30 days.
