An old worldly saying goes, “No matter how long winter lasts, spring will surely follow!” Well, here it is! After a long, dark, gray winter it’s so lovely to see the daffodils blooming and getting a glimmer of warmth and brightness from the sun! It looks fresh outside; for me, this is a time of year that embodies positive change, purification, renewal and the beginning of the decision-making process – and its implementation – for the rest of the year. To me, the spring saying means that no matter how long you have to endure the dark, the light always comes back, and it reminds us that if you didn’t have the dark, you wouldn’t. appreciate the light!
So with our essential oils, let’s enhance and appreciate the newness, the changes – the light – with some wonderful aromatherapy blends! Use your aromatherapy oils to create a fresh take on spring — even if you feel like you’re not quite there yet! Well… you know what this British weather is like!
Refresh the room with essential oils
On those days when it doesn’t feel as positively ‘Springy’ as it could, add a sense of freshness to the atmosphere with this uplifting, light and citrusy blend, as a reminder of what this time of year is all about!
Drop 3 drops Lemongrass essential oil, 2 drops Petitgrain and 2 drops Geranium on a tissue or cotton pad and place it somewhere in your room – for example in a pillowcase – to enhance the feeling of the room. With uplifting citrus and beautiful, balanced floral notes, you’ll feel more energetic and cheerful, ready to tackle any project!
Cleanse and detox your energy
In terms of the Chinese meridian, spring is a time for cleansing gallbladder and liver energy, clearing toxic waste, ready to make decisions about the future.
To help improve your decision-making prospects during this time of renewed change, use a cleansing, detoxifying spritz around your aura throughout the day to refresh your energy and promote balance. Try adding a maximum of 10 drops of each Lemon, Juniper berry And Sweet orange or Fennel in 100ml Orange Flower Hydrolat and sprinkling it into the air around you all day long! This is a great way to increase courage and initiative.
To help ‘cleanse’ your body you can also try our Detox Massage Oil with Patchouli, Sweet Orange and Juniper Berry. Before showering in the morning, try dry brushing your skin with a natural bristle brush. This stimulates your lymphatic system and helps remove toxins and waste. It also improves the condition of your skin and increases energy levels!
Start at your feet and work your way up. Use long, flowing strokes on the arms and legs, moving toward the heart, and a circular motion on your torso and back. Adjust pressure accordingly on different parts of the body. Then shower to wash off dead skin cells and then massage in our Detox Massage Oil while the skin is still warm (again moving in the direction of the heart). This hydrates the skin and supports your body’s natural ‘elimination’ process.
Cathartic Spring Cleaning
The traditional British ritual at this time of year is to perform the annual ‘Spring Clean!’ This can be a cathartic process, allowing a new start or symbolizing a clean slate. It may be something we avoid, but it can be motivating! Inspire yourself to dust off the old and get ready for the new this season. This is the time of year to get organized!
To help you out, set up your essential oil diffuser or candle burner so it works alongside you while you complete your cleanup tasks! Diffuse an invigorating and concentration-enhancing blend of peppermint, rosemary and eucalyptus essential oils – try 2-3 drops of each! You’ll be ready in no time!
Chakra balance ‘Beautiful Yellows’
We are surrounded by yellow in the daffodils and the occasional bit of sunshine this spring. Yellow is the color associated with the solar plexus chakra, according to the Indian chakra system. Also called the ‘manipura’ chakra – or City of Jewels – this chakra is about personal power, learning and understanding, and self-confidence, and is often the place where fear is felt. During the spring it can become unbalanced or perhaps even strengthened. There are some wonderful essential oils that stimulate the solar plexus chakra, including bergamot, lemon and balm. Try diffusing these oils throughout the day or inhaling them from a cotton pad to boost your strength and confidence and gently draw you into the light of spring!
Creative energy
Spring is a time of energy, giving us the perfect opportunity to be creative, start new projects or breathe new life into existing ventures that may have stalled during the winter!
Blast this blend to increase your ability to conceptualize, implement new ideas, and increase hope!
Diffuse 2 drops of Grapefruit, Ylang Ylang and Patchouli, or add them to 15 ml of bath and shower gel to prepare yourself for the day!
Energetic lime vibes
For an energetic boost – or to just enhance that really positive and cheerful feeling that spring is here and summer is on its way – try adding Lime essential oil to your aromatherapy blends!
To really wake you up and make you feel fresh for the rest of the day, add 1-2 drops Lime essential oil in 5 ml Grape seed oil and massage it into your body as a moisturizing oil for after your morning shower or bath. To me, Lime really captures the summer season, and while we’re out and about, it’s nice to have a reminder of where we’re going! No matter how long spring lasts, summer will surely follow!
