February finds me melancholic desire to put my hands into the ground and start my garden for the year. It is also a time when children are bored and it was fed up with indoors.
Turn off this energy and plan that you will grow over this year and learn about it!
I find it useful to start bundling, grabbing a notebook and pen and going outside. Take the children and go outside and rate your growth area.
Do you live in an apartment? Look around and see if there are corners that you can stop a few containers to plant herbs. Or find a local community garden where you can commit to a piece of land. It would surprise you how much you can grow in a few containers or small garden testing.
Use your notebook to take notes, make quick sketches of the area and note any zonob structures such as buildings and trees. Make sure you also mark the instructions on your sketch. Let the children also make their own sketches.
As soon as you have an idea of the space with which you work, you go back inside and start planning!
Collect your seed catalogs, Herb roots zine e -booksAnd a nice cup of herbal tea and sit down with your notebooks to plan.
Go through your catalogs and ebooks and note herbs where you and your children are interested in learning. Make a list of it and read about their growing requirements. Are they suitable for your space? Some, such as trees or bushes, can be too large, while others are wild plants that grow in nearby parks or wild spaces. “Wieden” from the poorly suitable plants will help you limit your growing selections.
Basic how many plants you choose to grow on the time you have to take care of, how experienced you are as gardeners and how many herbs you want to learn this year.
Connecting 6-10 herbs is a great starting point for beginners, although only growing 2-3 is also great! Many herbalists start learning about one herb in a year and simply immerse themselves in that one herb. There is no right or wrong, just choose what works for you and your family. You can decide to choose one plant to concentrate per person and each person can do a deep dive in that herb for the year and occasionally share their findings with the rest of the family.
Maybe you think it’s a great way to plan one day a week to study for an hour and then share it with everyone else. Or your children would rather learn a little every day and then share their findings once a week.
Or, as a family, you may want to work together and study on all the herbs that you have chosen.
Whatever method you choose, order the seeds that you want to start or plants that you want to grow through renowned companies such as strictly medicinal herbs. Start by collecting your learning material by taking all the books you need. If you want more learning structure and options Spice club.
